INTRO
Tambor Party began in Atlanta in 2009 with a simple foundation: rhythm, dance and community.
Founded by DJ and producer Stan Zeff, Tambor grew from a recurring house music gathering into a long-running platform for African-influenced dance music, live percussion, cultural exchange and human connection.
BEFORE TAMBOR
Stan Zeff’s background reaches back to UK sound-system culture and London’s Notting Hill Carnival through Shock Sound System. After relocating to Atlanta in 2000, he continued building his work as a DJ, producer and event curator.
2009 — THE FIRST TAMBOR PARTY
The first Tambor Party took place on August 15, 2009 at Cenci, 1259 Glenwood Ave, Atlanta.
The original flyer lists Stan Zeff, DJ BE, guest DJ Yusef and live percussion. Admission was $7, and the flyer announced Tambor as an ongoing third-Saturday gathering.
Later 2009 flyers document events featuring Tony Humphries, Zepherin Saint and Quentin Harris.
2010–2016 — BUILDING THE COMMUNITY
The surviving flyer archive shows a steady rhythm of Tambor events and guest artists during the formative years.
Documented flyers from this period include appearances by Black Coffee, Danny Krivit, Ron Trent, Osunlade, Ian Friday, Anané Vega, Jihad Muhammad, DJ Spen, Timmy Regisford, Boddhi Satva, Terry Hunter, Sabine Blaizin, Djeff, Joe Claussell, Culoe De Song, Monique Bingham, Louie Vega and Tony Touch, among others.
Anniversary flyers provide an additional historical thread:

2015 — Celebrating 6 Years
2017–2019 — EXPANSION

2020–2021 — TRANSITION AND RETURN
The 2020 archive begins with live events including Ancestral Gateway and Graphic Day Party, then documents Tambor’s move into virtual and livestream programming during the pandemic period.
By 2021, records include Tambor’s 12 Year Anniversary Celebration and Deep Awakening.
2022–2024 — TRAVEL, BRAND DEVELOPMENT AND 15 YEARS
The archive documents continuing events in 2022, including a Hudson River Boat Party in New York.
In 2023, Tambor expanded into a major Egypt / Nile River music-and-travel experience. Drive records include itineraries, schedules, guest and artist reservations, logistics, promotional material and post-event feedback.
In 2024, Tambor marked 15 years since its 2009 founding.
2025–2026 — A WIDER TAMBOR ECOSYSTEM
Tambor’s recent work reflects a broader idea of gathering.
Alongside Tambor Party, the ecosystem now includes formats such as Elevated Rhythms, Sacred Underground, Tambor Music and Sacred Vibrations, while additional conversation and immersive concepts continue to develop.
The center remains the same: music, movement and community.

Tambor’s historical record is being continuously rebuilt from original flyers, Eventbrite exports, event intake forms, photographs, schedules, promotional files and first-party documents.
